Mini obsession...Eerie Indiana!

I LOVE halloween. This time of year is THE best time of year for me. Somehow, I managed to married a guy who was actually born on Halloween?! Crazy huh! However, totally back fired on me (not that I married him for this reason) but he's not that keen on Halloween, due to the celebrations stealing the lime light :( Booooo!

Putting halloween aside, I've always had an obsession with Eerie Indiana. I watched it over and over when I was a kid (also because I had a crush on Marshall Teller). A few years back I got the DVD box set so I could watch my fave show over and over and over and over and...
Both me and Alan LOVE it. Every time I watch an episode I notice something or laugh at something that I hadn't noticed before or understood when I was a kid. I really don't understand though, why it's not more popular?!

This year my inspiration of my fancy dress outfit is episode #5 'Scariest Home Videos'. Where Simons little brother switches places by accident with a mummy in an old black and white film! So, I've stocked up the bandages and I'll post a picture after halloween :)

Loving the series so much and getting uber geeky about it i've done a couple of drawings inspired by my favorite show. Hope you like!

Hollimoon in Umea, Sweden

We've just come back from a fab week on Umea, Sweden. This was our belated #honeymoon. It was Alan's idea due to the great music scene that comes out of there and also the amazing artists and crafters that my husband loves. Here's a few pictures from out hollimoon of what we got up to :)

This is one of the may things that I loved about sweden. Everyone cycles everywhere, even to thier festivals. There were seas and seas of bicycles. Only thing is, I always loose my car in car parks. Not sure if I'd be able to find a bike in a sea of bikes :/
This was the first day we were there, the UXU festival. Which is a festival organised by a group of people that have got together to put on some fabulous music for the public.

This is Alan and myself watching #INVSN

#INVSN

We assumed this was where you ou wrote which bands you'd like to see here next year. So Alan did a little bit of promotion for his DJ mate #LENKEMZ
I've just done a translation and it means 'i dream of...' :)

There were lots of other bands there, all amazing to watch. #pheonix was a favourite of mine. #thurstonmoore kicked the festival off which we ate our gormet burger and meatballs.

Here's just a few pictures from the Vasterbottens museum. There was lots and lots to see there, we even had to go over 2 days as we couldn't fit it all in in one day.
Part of the museum is a traditional swedish village. People are dressed up to make it more authentic. If you're there and get offered a walk and talk definitely do it. We did a walk and talk and the guy was so informative and very proud of his heritage. I learnt lots of things (forgot lots now too). I even learnt (please dont laugh) that wolverines are actually real. I thought they were something marvel made up, eek. Such a dufus!

This was a traditional church which they brought over from Holmon Island.
 Here's a sami hut
Here's the oldest ski ever..EVER!
Freaky dolls :/
Alan at the school house playing with some old school yard games.

All in all we had a fab time in Umea, Sweden. Would love to go back there again one day. Maybe a wedding anniversary in a few years time :)

Antiques Fair Galore

It's Spring Bank Holiday Monday! Yep indeedy. It was turning out to be a lovely day, the sun was shining. I got up early and trotted off to Doncaster Racecourse, not to bet on race horses but to check out their antique wares (old stuff).
I did a little dance when i saw this beauty....

A gorgeous ceramic pineapple!!! I love pineapple's, well any fruity things really. But this was a sight to behold. I also came home with a cucumber character ceramic pot. That needs a clean though and a fancy hand held mirror so i can occasionally look at it and chant "who's the fairest of them all?" as you do. It reminded me of the husband too. The pattern has a little bearded man in the handle.

The other half when back to get a taxidermy weasel?! Yes, I said a taxidermy weasel. He's an odd one. However, when we went back we couldn't find it then i spotted it under one of the tables wrapped up with it's head popping out. Yep, someone else had their eye on the beauty too.

So, had an awesome bank holiday. It's a shame the sun went in and the rain now won't stop as i was planning on some gardening later. Boo, it'll have to wait.

Hope everyone is having fun xxx

Our Winter Wedding in Lapland

The day did finally come. I've obviously not got into the swing of this blogging thing as we have been married for 3 whole months now.
The wedding was so magical, we were all beaming from start to finish and a little bit after until we had to come back to bleak 'ol blighty!
Everything didn't go to plan (all down to myself) I'm not the most organised person! Although it didn't go to plan, it worked out perfectly.

We had a visit from our Wedding Elf, Snowdrop on the day we arrived. She talked us through (briefly) what was going to happen. It's all a little unknown really, well I felt that way. She asked us what we'd brought along i.e music, cake topper, poems & such and we handed these over. Although, due to me being unorganised. I'd forgotten to do the music. I remembered in the middle of the night before the flight and all i could do was put it on Alan's Ipod. This was no good...boo! They needed it on a CD but hey ho. If your getting married abroad, I'd take your music in every shape and form to be on the safe side! They asked for it digitally so i thought an Ipod would be fine.

What we were going to have was Strange Love by Karen O. That song pulls at my heart strings so much. I love Tim Burton films and this song is on the film Frankenweenie. Anything about dogs ad I'm there!

Even though we didn't have the song we wanted out Snow Elf saved the day! She asked us what sort of music that we liked. I said nothing too new or pop/cheesy like boyzone. And what we got was this gem by another favourite Karen of mine....

How odd, both called Karen. I have only just realised this. Myself and Alan both love the Carpenters. In a nice and cheesy way. There songs, especially this one are great to mockingly sing to one another. Great car songs too!

Enough of me blabbering. All in all it was fabulous. I wish we could all do it again. It seems such a long time ago. Here's some Pictures of the wedding. Enjoy!

My lovely snow princess wedding dress

Me and my amazing Dad and stunning Sister just before we made our entrance into the Kota
Myself making my grand entrance (and tripping on my dress)
Lots of concentration

Whoop! We're almost married!

My handsome man laughing at me not knowing what the hell I'm doing!
The finished bouquet that Alan's mum made. It was totally gorgeous. I'll make sure i upload some closer images of it and also the boutonnieres too. They were fab!

The whole gang of family elf's
Rudolf's friend gave us a lift to the reception venue

It was amazing. Even though the pretty snow wet my face on the way.

Me and my big sister :D

Our gorgeous Rien Poortvliet gnomes. They are musical and play the tune 'You are the sunshine of my life' by Stevie Wonder. Another epic tune!

A bouquet fit for Snow White

Having the wedding in Lapland, with all the pretty snow everywhere and being a massive Once Upon a Time fan I see myself a bit of a Snow White princess. My MIL to be is helping with the flowers and the boutonnieres. These will be made up of hand made fabric flowers. Partly because I want what I want and if I left it up to the wedding organisers I won't really know what I'm having. Also, on researching about wedding's in Lapland the cold makes the poor flowers wilt so quickly. And also it's kinda fun and I get to keep it for all eternity!
Here's some pictures to inspire for a Winter Wedding.

From top to bottom, here is where the inspiration lies

I have found 'The Dress'

Yesterday I took the Mother and Mother-in-Law to be to see a dress I'd tried on previously with a freind. I still liked it, they both liked it. Yeay!
It's exactly what i wanted in a dress which I thought was going to be impossible to find as up until then I'd only come across strapless dresses that all looked the same or fishtales which are beautiful dresses but don't look that great with my perfectly capable child bearing hips (which reasures me for the future). I wanted the 50's shape, high neck like a boat neck in lace. Audrey Hepburn style. With long or 3/4 length sleeves. Sweetheart neckline underneath the lace. Fitted at the waist and flares out into a 50's style skirt but not a tea lenth. I wanted floor length.
I didn't go very far a-field, that may have been my problem. I stayed around the Nottinghamshire area. Looking at other blogs about weddings and such i have seen things I liked. But then the reality of trying on dresses wasn't what I expected. So some tips for any newly engaged ladies. Don't expect to find the perfect dress straight away and go further afield if you need, to give you some more scope.
I won't post any pictures of it yet but after the wedding I will put all the pictures together so that everyone can have a good nosey.

Wedding Theme Ideas

The colour theme for the wedding is red, green and golds. All my fave colours and inspired by the pretty emerald in my ring. I'm loving the flowing-ness of chiffon. I've seen a beautiful dress while I've been googleing away that I've become a little fixated on.

I've been searching around to see if i can get one similar on the internet, but haven't found anything with these pretty sleeves.
I went shopping last Saturday with my mum and mother-in-law to be to a few bridal shops and found one dress in each shop. One of them was the pretty chiffon fabric that I liked. It had a lace bodice and some pretty bugle beads decorating it. I think i need to try it on again after I have been to a few other shops.
I was hoping to get a wedding dress with sleeves but as I suspected there wasn't any in both the bridal shops that I went to the other day.
I love this bouquet, found on ruffledblog.com. The colours are just great and look very wintry too. I'd like to make my own bouquet to take over there so I might have a play around. Alan's mum is very crafty so I might ask her to give me a helping hand. I will post my experiments on here when I get round to doing it. I'm wanting to wear boots, one reason as I want my ankles to be warm and another reason is they will more comfortable to wear all day and I'll get to wear them forever more. And I'm not that keen on wedding shoes. My other thought was gloves. It's going to be so cold out there, so for the wedding pictures I could have some pretty white leather gloves on and my sister could be wearing some cute red leather gloves. I'm more concerned about my sister as she is super skinny and takes after mum with the cold. They are both always cold even on the hottest day they are cold?! Also thermals, we will all need thermals. I don't know if I'm getting carried away or not as we won't be long in the cold, most of the time we will be indoors. Hmm, better safe than sorry though I think!
I'm going to book some more dates in the diary to try on some dresses, once I've decided on the dress I'm sure everything else will come together.
